THE STORY
What is Solvegg?
The Sunwall, Warmed for Clinicians
Jason was raised in Minnesota in a family with strong Norwegian heritage and traditions. While exploring Norwegian cultural history, he discovered the concept of the sunwall, a wall warmed by the sun during frigid Nordic winters. Traditionally, Norwegian cabins include a southern-facing wall that captures warmth and provides shelter from the wind.
The idea was first conceived in 1913 by Oscar Kittilsen and later championed by industrialist Sam Eyde. The Norwegian words sol (sun) and vegg (wall) combine to form solvegg, meaning sunwall.
